Negotiations conducted with leadership of Jizzakh Region, Uzbekistan

 

Rector Ilshat Gafurov and KFU delegation met with public officials on June 17.

Jizzakh Region was represented by Deputy Governor for Investment and Innovation Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, Deputy Governor for Education, Health and Social Welfare Furkat Zhurakulov, rectors of Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute, and Jizzakh Campus of the National University of Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed the forthcoming establishment of a KFU overseas branch in Jizzakh, something that has been touched on several times recently. Rector Gafurov offered to direct the branch’s efforts towards economics, biomedicine, oil and gas technology, IT, and space technology.

Everyone then toured the campus of a former local military aviation school – its territory is proposed as the campus location. It’s about 11 ha large and has several buildings.

Dr. Gafurov also met with students who are enrolled in a joint psychology program overseen by Kazan Federal University and National University of Uzbekistan.

Kazanian guests also went to Jizzakh Medical Vocational School and an IT park.
