Aide to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky: “It would be good to establish a joint Basic State Exam and Unified State Exam in history and social studies”




The Chairman of the Russian Military History Society met with teachers of social sciences on 14 March.
The event, which also featured President of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov, was dedicated to a discussion of a new unified collection of history and social studies textbooks for 5th – 11th grades of the secondary school.
As Medinsky noted, the Ministry of Enlightenment plans to replace some social studies lessons in 6th, 7th and 8th grades with history lessons., “Our task is to make it a useful, attractive and favorite subject.”
He spoke about the ongoing work on the new textbooks aimed at making them more interesting and comprehensible and added, “In the end, I think, it would be good to establish a joint BSE and USE in history and social studies.”
Since 1 September 2023, a new collection of world history and history of Russia textbooks were introduced in the school curriculum. The books are noted for their rich illustrative content, multiple hyperlinks to online materials, and modernized lists of literature and sources.
Apart from that, 32 provinces have taken it upon themselves to create new textbooks in local history.
