Cairo Branch launches classes after licensing

384 students have already enrolled.

President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi signed an executive order in October 2023, after which a relevant document by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia followed. A local license was then obtained.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev comments, “The branch has started its educational process. There are currently three majors – general medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. The classes are in English, and Russian is studied as a foreign language. These subjects are in high demand in Egypt, because the growing country always has a lack of medical professionals. Our branch seeks to satisfy this need. Kazan University diplomas are recognized in Egypt without additional procedures.”

“The opening was mostly technical, and we plan a ceremony for autumn 2024. Our partners in Egypt are currently constructing a new campus for KFU. We hope to see it ready in September or October 2024. And the students – by then sophomore – will move to new facilities. As of now, they are also studying in a new building which is adjacent to a clinic serving as a teaching hospital,” adds the interviewee.

KFU educators from the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, the Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Computational Mathematics and IT have already started providing instruction, and they will soon be joined by physicists. Discussions are underway to invite local teaching talent.

“Cairo is interesting to us because it’s both a big city in Africa and a huge center of the Arab world. We expect enrollees from other countries of the Middle East and Africa as well,” concludes the Vice-Rector.
