Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev: “KFU is one of the most popular universities among Open Doors Olympiad winners”

Winners of the 8th season of Open Doors scholarship contest have been announced.

1,400 talented young men and women are to receive priority allocations for free education at Russian universities, and 4,600 more are in a reserve roster (meant to receive a vacancy if one opens because of a refusal or other circumstances).

This year was the first to include bachelor’s and postdoc contests, in addition to previously existing master’s and PhD tracks.

Vice-Rector Alishev notes, “KFU is traditionally among the most popular choices for Open Doors winners. Several dozen are already students of our university. The winners receive full scholarship from Rossotrudnichestvo. So far, winners in two tracks have already been announced for 2025, and winners in postdoc and PhD contest are going to be revealed in late February. Afterwards we are going to contact them regarding their admission.”

Head of International Admissions Nail Safin informs that the number of international students at KFU has exceeded 13,000, “The Open Doors track for undergrads and graduate students includes two stages – testing and the Olympiad itself. For the PhD track, one more step is added – interview with a potential research supervisor. For the postdoc track, there are also three stages, but the Olympiad tasks are replaced with a video presentation.”
