Seven students return from language internship at Northwest Normal University

Yelabuga Institute students went to Lanzhou, China, to study Chinese language.
Student Leila Akhunova says, “The immersion definitely helped us improve speaking skills. I can fluently maintain a conversation with native speakers now.”
Communication with young people and teachers assisted in acquiring more confidence, adds the young woman. The internship also gave a unique opportunity to learn about local culture and social life.
The Russian interns studied tea rituals, Chinese calligraphy, and wushu. Everyone was involved in extracurricular activities.
During the autumn holidays (National Day of the People’s Republic of China), the Russian guests were divided into three groups, each visiting one of the three cities – Xi’an, Shanghai, or Chongqing.
Kseniya Kropotina shares her impressions of Chongqing, “It was the most unusual city that I’ve ever visited. Modernity here coincides with history, and the whole city oozes the atmosphere of cyberpunk. Life is brewing. You really feel like you are in some other reality. And one can easily get lost among multi-level buildings and terraces.”
The students say that such a wonderful trip increased their motivation and opened new career horizons.
In their turn, eight students of Northwest Normal University are currently learning Russian language and culture at Yelabuga Institute.
