Third Age University kicks off new academic year

The opening ceremony was held at KFU’s UNICS Center.
The Third Age University was founded in 2007 and caters to senior citizens who wish to continue their studies during retirement years. This season, 24 programs are available to them at local unviersities. The initiative is spearheaded by the Russian Union of Retirees, Social Fund of Russia, and Kazan Federal University. At the ceremony, KFU was represented by Desk Officer of the Rectorate Irina Terentyeva.
She said that this is always an exciting moment for everyone, “It’s a holiday of the soul and a wonderful job. Each one of our five thousand educators thinks so. I wish you all the best on theif behalf.”
Terentyeva mentioned the upcoming 220th anniversary of KFU and said that Third Age University students will be among those to help in preparing for this grand occasion.
Annually, over 7,000 persons of 55+ years of age attend TAU classes.
