This year’s forum takes up May 24 to 26.

The opening ceremony and plenary session featured President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Representative of Russia in the European Court of Human Rights – Deputy Minister of Justice of Russia Mikhail Galperin, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of the All-Russian State University of Justice Olga Aleksandrova, Head of Rosobrnadzor Anzor Muzaev, and others.

In his greeting, President Minnikhanov noted that Gavriil Derzhavin’s heritage is important for Russia. He emphasized that Tatarstan’s government aims at creating an atmosphere of calmness and successful development for everybody.

Rector Gafurov reminded that it’s the sixth time when KFU welcomes the Readings. He opined that this platform for exchange of opinions and experience helps to adopt timely changes in legislation.

Thematically, this 16th conference is especially diverse. Among the topics are digitization of justice, AI, compliance, vaccination, online education, remote work, and many others. As Dr. Gafurov said, this reflects the many facets of Derzhavin’s personality and scholarly pursuits.

“The phenomenon of Derzhavin is inalienable from the history of Kazan University,” he said. “Derzhavin is a wonderful example for contemporary students.”

Further in the ceremony, Rector Gafurov was awarded the Gavriil Derzhavin Medal by the Ministry of Justice of Russia. First Vice-Rector Riyaz Minzaripov was given the Silver Medal of Assistance from the same body.

The participants also laid flowers to Derzhavin’s monument in Lyadskoy Garden in the city center.

The closing proceedings are going to take place tomorrow, May 26.
