Opening ceremony of the 7th International Forum on Teacher Education (IFTE-2021)

The meeting convened in the morning on May 26.

The contributors to the opening were Rector Ilshat Gafurov, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Andrey Pominov, First Vice-Rector of Herzen University Vladimir Laptev, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy of Saint-Petersburg State University Elena Kazakova, and Commissioner for Children’s Rights of Tatarstan Irina Volynets. Video greetings were sent by Mustafa Yunus Eryaman (World Education Research Association), Cheryl Craig (International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching), and Hazel Bryan (International Professional Development Association).

In his introductory remarks, Rector Gafurov informed that this forum comprises 500 on-site and 1,000 online participants.

He spoke about KFU’s innovative model of teacher education, uniting various formats for the betterment of practice-oriented training. It has found international recognition in teacher training circles.

IFTE has been a platform for expert discussions of changes in teacher education since its inception. The Rector thanked everyone for their contributions to fruitful discussion and wished them smooth communication and exchange of ideas during the Forum.

After the ceremony, the first plenary session immediately followed. Reports were made by Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Professor Cheryl Craig, Deputy Director of the Institute of Psychology and Education Roza Valeeva, and Vice-President of the British Educational Research Association Ian James Menter.

IFTE-2021 comprises over 200 symposia, seminars, workshops, panels, master classes and discussions in Russian and English languages and involves participants from 39 countries and 213 institutions.
