Plans to open a university branch in Kyrgyzstan voiced during a meeting between Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov and Rector Ilshat Gafurov

The talks took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on June 10.

Rector Gafurov offered to start providing 2+2 and 3+1 type undergraduate programs together with local universities. He noted that educational projects should be tightly linked with Russian companies’ business activities in the Kyrgyz Republic.

After hearing a proposal of opening a branch in Kyrgyzstan, Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Education and Science of the country to analyze it in detail. In particular, the officials should find a location for the campus and discuss educational programs.

Ulukbek Maripov also said that KFU and Kyrgyzstan should create a cooperation roadmap. He concluded, “This year, President Rustam Minnikhanov is planning to pay a work visit to Kyrgyzstan. With that in mind, we need to find solutions to today’s questions as soon as possible.”

Just recently, the University reached a preliminary agreement to launch a brick-and-mortar office and branch in Jizzakh Region, Uzbekistan.
