In accordance with the order of the President of the Russian Federation, Ammar Hussein, a resident student of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of Kazan Federal University and a doctor of the Kazan Emergency Medical Aid Station, was awarded a commendation.

Ammar Hussein was awarded for high professionalism and selflessness in providing medical assistance in extreme conditions in early 2024, and the award ceremony was held in the Kazan Kremlin in time to coincide with the Spring and Labor Holiday and Victory Day.

“It was very exciting to receive the award, especially from the hands of our Rais Rustam Minnikhanov. For me it is a great responsibility and motivation to help people further,” shared Hussein.

The ophthalmologist has been working as a volunteer since 2018. During the COVID pandemic, he worked more than 3,000 hours (this figure is the highest in the country) in the ‘red zone’, helping the sick. In addition, Ammar participated in emergency response in Russia, assisted victims of a series of earthquakes in Syria and fires in Yakutia, and worked as part of a humanitarian mission on the lines of the special military operation.

“It is very pleasant when you receive awards, commendations, diplomas. The main success remains the people I and my team have helped and whose lives I have improved. We provide medical care, and I always try to be there when it is needed. And being a volunteer doctor is not just a profession for me, but a mission,” said Ammar Hussein.
