KFU employees awarded at Scientific Breakthrough in Tatarstan ceremony

The event on 11 February was presided by Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Among other topics, the Rais noted the importance of popular science projects and teacher education. In regard to those, KFU representatives showed their Physico-Chemical Breakthrough initiative. It had earlier also been discussed at the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences (which is the managing institution of the Scientific Breakthrough), where the presenters were Director of the Institute of Chemistry Marat Ziganshin and Director of the Institute of Physics Marat Gafurov.

In this season, 130 applications were made to the award, and 21 nominees were commended.

The winners from KFU are:

Professional Calling Award – Alexander Prokhorov, Professor of the Department of General Psychology;

Scientist of the Year – Mikhail Varfolomeev, Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering;

Faithfulness to Science – Yury Perevedentsev, Professor of the Department of Meteorology, Climatology and Atmosphere Ecology.
