Rector gives out awards and commendations at special year-end Academic Board meeting

The ceremony was held in the Emperor Ballroom.

Traditionally every year, the concluding meeting of the Academic Board includes an award ceremony for university-level, provincial and federal commendations.

Rector Lenar Safin also presented the insignia for the title of Honorary Doctor of Kazan University to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Sambhram University of Technology (Uzbekistan Branch) Ergash Saliev.

Ergash Saliev made a worthy contribution to the development of international humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, including the development of partnership in science and education between Uzbekistan and Tatarstan, which resulted in the opening of a KFU branch in the city of Jizzakh. The new honorary doctor served as Governor of Jizzakh Region in 2017 – 2024.

The Academic Board then proceeded with its work agenda, including new appointments and academic title bestowals.

Finally, the Board voted to assign the title of Honorary Doctor of Kazan University to Oleg Morozov (b. 1953), a Soviet and Russian political figure, scientist, Candidate of Science (PhD) in Philosophy, Deputy of the State Duma of Russia and chairman of its control committee. Dr Morozov is a KFU alumnus, class of 1976.
