Georgy Kotiev steps up as Director of Naberezhnye Chelny Institute

Ex-director Makhmut Ganiev is now Counselor to the Director.
Georgy Kotiev was born in 1967. In 1991, he graduated with honors from Moscow State Technical University (Bauman University) with a diploma in wheeled and tracked machines. He defended his PhD thesis in 1993 and DSc thesis in 2000. Kotiev has authored over 250 papers in his specialization.
The new appointee spent over 30 years at Bauman Unviersity, including 20 years as Chair of the Department of Wheeled Machines. He supervised project works over 20 new types of wheeled machines for various applications.
In 2022, he was invited to become one of research supervisors of Cyber Auto Tech, KFU’s new automotive engineering school at Naberezhnye Chelny Institute. He says that his main objective as Director will be to attract talent in engineering and technology. Among his nearest foci is the digitization of education and digital economy specializations.
Among Kotiev’s awards are the title of Distinguished Worker of Science of Russia (2019) and the Russian Governmental Prize in Research for the Arctic North (2022).
On 6 April, Director Kotiev was introduced to team by Rector Lenar Safin. Dr Safin noted, “You’ll have to handle many pertinent tasks in professional education and technological innovation for local auotmakers. It’s a vast and responsible undertaking.”
