Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Valery Falkov visited newly renovated dormitory

It was part of his visit to Russian Venture Forum in Kazan.

The 6th Dormitory in the city center of Kazan was thoroughly renovated in December 2023 as part of the university’s large-scale program. The project was supported by the supervising federal agency and the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The head of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, accompanied by Rector Lenar Safin, inspected the living rooms and common areas, study area, assembly and reading rooms, specially equipped rooms for students with disabilities.

During the tour, the Minister was also told about the work with non-local students of the university and how the set of measures to support student families, of which there are currently about 140 at Kazan University, is being implemented. 14 such families live in dorms.

All young families are given the opportunity to transfer to an individual study plan, transfer from paid to free education (under certain conditions), and employment assistance is provided. Furthermore, financial support of young families or students with children, legal and psychological assistance, housing issues are solved, and cultural events are organized.

In conclusion, Valery Falkov gave five student families money certificates for 50,000 rubles as part of the Year of Family in the Russian Federation.

He noted the importance of the support of relatives and friends, as well as the alma mater, when young people decide to start a family during their student years. He thanked KFU for its effective work in helping young families, and wished the students to keep peace, love and mutual understanding in their lives.
