Rector Lenar Safin meets with Chairman of the Russian Society of Archivists Yefim Pivovar

The guest, who is also a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the President of the Russian State University of Humanities, arrived on 27 February.
The two officials talked about KFU’s efforts in heritage preservation. Among other things, the University plans to be an integral part of a future Center for Archeography and Source Studies (planned to be part of Tatarstan State Archive). The Center will describe written heritage in various languages and introduce digital technology into archive activities. The scientists will study local and federal archives and search for documents relating to Tatarstan in Russia and other countries.
Kazan University, of course, is a keeper of numerous priceless collections of documents and manuscripts in many languages. They are administered by the Section of Rare Manuscripts and Books of the Lobachevsky Library and the Laboratory of Research and Preservation of Written Heritage.
In cooperation with the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, the State Committee of Tatarstan for Archives, and the Tatarstan Branch of the Russian Society of Archivists will study their own collections to form a pool of highly valuable items.
