Roundtable on Sustainable Development held as part of VIII Summer School ‘Youth Engagement for Human Rights’
The meeting took place at KFU on June 28.
Over 50 contributors joined the talks, including Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova, Tatarstan’s Commissioner for Human Rights Sariya Saburskaya, Chief Federal Inspector in Tatarstan Viktor Demidov, Head of the Joint Program of Russia and UN Commissioner for Human Rights Rashid Aluash, Director the UN Information Center in Moscow Vladimir Kuznetsov, Dean of the Faculty of Law of KFU Liliya Bakulina, and Director of the Center for Human Rights, International Law and Integration Problems of KFU Rustem Davletgildeev.
Sariya Saburskaya noted that Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are ever pertinent.
Viktor Demidov informed that Tatarstan systematically works on improving its system of human rights protection. It even has its Strategy for Human Rights (2014), which was a novelty for Russian provinces at the time of adoption.
Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova informed that President of Russia first declared the country’s adherence to SDGs in 1996. Currently, SDGs are integrated into national projects and strategic program documents at various levels of governance.
The participants then more deeply discussed some of the 300 objectives of SDGs.
