Sabantuy holiday to be held in Minecraft
KFU student have made preparations to present the traditional Tatar agricultural holiday on June 26.
“Previously, our students have recreated some KFU buildings in Minecraft,” says Deputy Director of the Institute of Computational Mathematics and IT Anton Yegorchev. “Now, they are ready to familiarize everyone with the traditional Tatar and Bashkir holiday of the completion of spring field work.”
The Sabantuy location will be available in Minecraft on June 26 between 11:00 and 22:00 Moscow time. The server will be available in the Institute’s VK.com group.
“Under my guidance, a team of eight students worked for a month to prepare the virtual Sabantuy playground,” shares master student Almaz Akhmatyanov. “Visitors will be able to see traditional entertainment – running with a spoon loaded with a boiled egg, running with a shoulder yoke with two full water buckets, bag fighting on a log, kettlebell competitions, equestrian contests, pole climbing, and others. We wanted to represent the holiday as we see it.”
