Scientists receive professional awards on Chemist Day
The last Sunday of May is celebrated as the Chemist Day in Russia.
As usual, the ceremony was held in Nizhnekamsk, the petrochemical capital of Russia and one of the largest industrial centers of Tatarstan.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov greeted the participants and congratulated them on the occasion. He also toured a professional exhibition.
Six KFU employees were commended during the day. Two individuals – Professor Boris Solomonov and Dr. Yury Shtyrlin – were named Distinguished Workers of Science of Tatarstan.
Lead Research Associate Ayrat Dimiev (Prospective Carbon Nanomaterials Lab) and Associate Professor Almira Kurbangalieva (Department of Organic Chemistry) were named best in the Scientists and Innovators of Industry nomination. Finally, Senior Research Associate Avgustina Boretskaya and Lead Engineer Artyom Laskin (both – Sorption and Catalytic Processes Lab) won in the Future of the Industry nomination.
