Cooperation agreement signed by KFU and Kim Chaek University of Technology

Rector Lenar Safin and President Park Ji Min met today for the signing.

At the meeting, Rector Safin noted that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is an important potential partner.

“We aim to expand our interactions with leading universities in East Asia. Cooperation between Russian and DPRK universities is in line with the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed by the heads of state of the two countries in June 2024. The document outlines a roadmap for our cooperation,” noted Safin.

Students from North Korea could be seen at Kazan University in the 1980s. As of now, KFU is a part of a sub-commission of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Russia and DPRK.

Park Ji Min had this to say about his visit, “We have toured your laboratories, many of which are aimed at real production for industrial partners. We see that cooperation with KFU can give wide opportunities for education and research in such priority areas as geology and petroleum science, IT, medicine, bioengineering, space studies, and new materials.”

The sides then proceeded to sign the agreement.
