Cooperation agreement signed with Yasnaya Polyana Estate Museum

The ceremony occurred on 15 December.

The signatories were President of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov and Estate Museum Director Yekaterina Tolstaya. Also present were Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council on Russian Language Vladimir Tolstoy, Director of KFU’s Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Radif Zamaletdinov, Director of KFU’s Museum Complex Svetlana Frolova, and Dean of the Higher School of Russian Philology and Culture Rezeda Mukhametshina.

Ms Tolstaya noted, “Yasnaya Polyana and Kazan Federal University have been friends for many years. We support academic exchange, partake in symposiums, seminars and conferences, and we invite educators and students to Yasnaya Polyana. On this day, we make our relationship official.”

She mentioned Leo Tolstoy’s life in Kazan as the time of his coming of age, “We hold in high importance everything linked with Kazan and this period in the writer’s life. We have many friends here, and we are always glad to see KFU students and staff visiting us. We want to have ever more guests at the museum.”

As part of the ongoing Kazan International Linguistic Summit, students were shown an excerpt of Tolstoy. No Patronymic, a new theater play.

According to Radif Zamaletdinov, the longstanding cooperation has been fruitful, “We opened a joint laboratory to study Leo Tolstoy’s heritage. KFU researchers can work in the archives and libraries of Yasnaya Polyana. We are currently working on a virtual tour of Tolstoyan places in Kazan. A presentation of the project took place today.”
