Several agreements signed as part of ROSTKI Russia-China Forum in Kazan

Three documents were signed today, 14 November, at Kazan Expo.

The international business forum is designed to become a platform for the development of economic cooperation between Russian regions and Chinese provinces. The large-scale event includes plenary sessions and panel discussions, meetings, workshops, Russia-China Expo and cultural events. One of the key parts of the forum is the signing of numerous cooperation agreements.

The participants received a welcome letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. It was read out at the opening of the forum.

“I am pleased to state that the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan is doing a lot to develop cooperation with the PRC. There are a number of partnership agreements with cities and provinces of China, many joint projects are being implemented, humanitarian exchanges are being promoted. The Council for Interregional Cooperation in the Volga-Yangtze format, which unites the entities of the Volga Federal District and the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River, has also proved itself well,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.

Kazan Federal University also signed a number of agreements. The documents were signed by Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, who moderated the discussion platform “Youth Cooperation between Russia and China”.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between KFU and the Chinese Alliance for Quality Development of Future Education, Zhongyubo (Beijing) Technology Ltd. The signatures were made by Dr Alishev and Secretary General of the Alliance, Chairman of Zhongyubo (Beijing) Technology Ltd. Jin Wenjun.

In addition, an agreement on strategic cooperation was reached between Kazan University, Beijing Vocational Information Institute and the Russian-Chinese Foundation for Education Development One Belt One Road. The signatory from the institute is Vice-Rector Zhang Xiaolei, and from the One Belt One Road Foundation – Zhang Junchang.

“The agreements are related to the opening of the preparatory faculty in China,” commented the Vice-Rector. “It is also planned to sign an agreement with the TV channel Greater Asia, which specializes in news coverage, preparation of stories from Central Asia and China. The document envisages active interaction between Kazan University and this channel. Perhaps they will be able to use the materials of our student popular science TV channel UNIVER TV, and UNIVER TV will be able to broadcast the content prepared by Greater Asia.”

The university consolidated the already established ties with Greater Asia LLC with an agreement on academic partnership. Alexander Lebedev, CEO of Greater Asia LLC, became the signatory.

“We signed an agreement today that is not about money. We signed an agreement that is actually about cooperation, about tomorrow. I am very happy that recently, as part of the preparations for the BRICS summit, we met with the leadership of Kazan Federal University, and that now one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia is celebrating 220 years since its foundation. Therefore, it is a great honor for us to sign an agreement under which we acquire the status of an official information partner of your university. You also receive a very significant status of an academic partner,” Lebedev emphasized.

The document, in particular, covers cooperation in content exchange. UNIVER TV will get the right to broadcast the program Chinese Panorama – 9 episodes per week (75 minutes of airtime), said the general director of Greater Asia LLC.

“I was at your TV station, I liked it very much – a young energetic team, young but already strong professionals,” shared Lebedev. “The most important thing is that we want to have a program about how and what KFU students learn and think, not only on the Chinese agenda, but also on topical issues of the youth agenda.”

According to Lebedev, the youth content of the collaboration should be based on the deep traditions, values of the peoples.

The business forum will end tomorrow, November 15.
