Talks conducted with Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance and Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions

The Bahraini colleagues visited on July 29.

The three guests were Head of the Center for Islamic Finance (Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance) Mujtaba Khalid, Head of Standards Implementation and Strategic Developments (Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions) Rizwan Malik and CEO of Moonshot Advisory Co. Mohammad Shaheed Khan.

Vice-Rector for Education Timirkhan Alishev presented Kazan Federal University to the visitors. He shed light on KFU’s structure, student body and priorities.

Mujtaba Khalid spoke about his current work and expressed hope for cooperation in Islamic finance. Dr. Alishev noted that KFU has had extensive experience in joint programs, in particular, with the London School of Economics.

Director of KFU’s Institute of Management, Economics and Finance Nailya Bagautdinova said that Islamic finance is an integral part of the University’s curriculum, “One of the graduates of the master of finance program is Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin. We plan to launch a separate Islamic finance program in Russian and English languages. And I would like for our courses to be accredited by AAOIFI.”

The sides agreed to more actively promote bilateral links in the described areas, including those within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed with BIBF in 2019. Such a memorandum with AAOIFI is now also in the plans.
