Azerbaijani officials welcomed at University

A delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Vahid Hajiev, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Jabrail, Gubadli and Zangilan regions, visited Kazan Federal University.

The delegation also included Deputy Special Representative Sabuhi Mehdizade, Executive Director of the Agency for Restoration Construction and Management in these districts Novras Jafarov, and others.

President of Kazan University Riyaz Minzaripov and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev accompanied the guests.

The visit started at the History Museum. The guests from Azerbaijan showed genuine interest in the sections of the exhibition dedicated to Eastern studies at the university, as well as Vladimir Lenin – perhaps the most famous student of Kazan University.

Dr Alishev informed the delegates about how the University received the status of a federal higher educational institution, its structural division and infrastructure. The Vice-Rector noted that KFU has established academic mobility with Azerbaijani universities.

“Education is a very important area in which our cooperation should develop. Speaking of partnership with Azerbaijan, we note that our scientists often visit this country, and we invite representatives of this country to us,” Riyaz Minzaripov addressed the guests. “I wish you to have pleasant impressions of our university”.

Vahid Hajiev responded, “Kazan is the economic, scientific, cultural center of Russia, so we are not surprised by what we saw at the university today. It is a great merit of all those who work at the university – the future is yours.”

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged memorable gifts, then continued the tour in the Emperor Ballroom, as well as visiting the famous Memorial Auditorium No. 7 of the Faculty of Law.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, 39 Azerbaijani nationals are enrolled in KFU.
