Delegation of Sri Lanka welcomed at University

Ambassador Janitha Abeywickrama Liyanage and her colleagues arrived on 12 May.
The group comprised the Ambassador’s spouse Sudanta Liyanage, Director of MAK Holding LLC Andre Fernando, Aide to the Ambassador Olesya Romanova, Chairman of the Russia-Sri Lanka Council for the Support Entrepreneurship Aydar Galeev, and expert of the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society Elmir Tabeev.
Vice-Rector Timirkhan Alishev accompannied the visitors at the History Museum, the Emperor Ballroom, and the Lenin Memorial Classroom, and showed them a presentation of Kazan Federal University. Also present was member of Tatarstan’s Commission for UNESCO Affairs Engel Tagirov.
Ambassador Liyanage noted, “This is my first visit to Kazan Federal University. Today, I met with Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. We discussed cooperation opportunities in education among other things. The Rais assured us of his full support for academic exchange and joint research between Sri Lankan and Kazanian universities.”
The Ambassador added the Sri Lanka is going to dispatch its representatives to KazanForum, a huge event featuring delegation from the countries of the Islamic world; the forum is set to take place in Kazan from 18 to 20 May 2023. Over 6,000 participants will partake in the forum’s sessions and expos over three days.
