KFU visited by representatives of Chinese media as part of ROSTKI Russia-China Forum

The guests toured the History Museum.

Among the invitees were Secretary General of the Federation of Economics Media of China Jiang Shangyuan, General Director of Caixin Media Dong Guangming, Director of Industry News of Shandong Business Daily Bai Xinyi, Chief Editor of Shenzhen Business Daily Qian Feiming, and others. They were greeted by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.

Apart from a traditional presentation of the university, the guests were also shown some precious items from the immense Asian collection of the Lobachevsky Library. Among such rarities were a colored plan of Beijing compiled by Russia’s first Sinologist Hyacinth, Russia’s first Chinese language textbook Basics of Written Chinese, and an album of watercolor pictures of China by an unknown Russian author from the late 19th century. Head of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Unit Endje Sabirova gave an interview to Phoenix TV, one of the Chinese networks comprising the group.

At present, there are 1,679 Chinese nationals enrolled in KFU. Chinese language has been studied here since 1837, when Russia’s first Chinese language department was opened.
