Meeting held with representatives of the Institute for the History of Natural Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The guests arrived on 18 December.

KFU was represented by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Deputy Director for International Affairs of the Institute of International Relations Albina Imamutdinova, and Dean of the Higher School of International Relations and World History Airat Sitdikov.

The IHNS delegation comprised Acting Director Guan Xiaowu and research associates Chen Wei and Ren Xiaolin.

The Vice-Rector spoke about the University’s history, structure and priorities. He elaborated in detail on KFU’s work in history, archeology and Eastern studies.

“In November, KFU took part in the ROSTKI Russia-China Forum. Our Rector Lenar Safin pays special attention to our cooperation with Chinese partners,” he added.

The visitors, in turn, presented their Institute and shared their impressions from Kazan. They expressed interest in academic exchange.

“Our priorities are ancient technology, scientific archeology, and academic exchange. We plan to conduct research in China, Mongolia, Russia, and Central Asia, studying ethnography, folk arts, etc.” informed Guan Xiaowu.

KFU is focused on strengthening cooperation with China, and many established researchers and executives have recently joined started learning Chinese language. The Vice-Rector emphasized deep interest in joint archeological expeditions and research.

As of now, KFU houses 2,004 Chinese nationals, including 696 at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, 322 at the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance, and 211 at the Institute of International Relations.
