Memorandum of understanding signed with International Islamic University Malaysia

Within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan to Malaysia, the management of Kazan Federal University met with the Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Professor Ahmad Faris Ismail.

During the meeting Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, took part in a roundtable discussion on the development of Islamic finance in Russia.

“The International Islamic University Malaysia is the largest center fo personnel training in the country, as well as the main one in Islamic fiinance. Agreements were reached on the implementation of network master’s and PhD programs. This university will take an active part in the establishment and work of the federal reference center for Islamic finance, which is being planned for headquartering at KFU. Another joint project is a planned symposium in Islamic architecture set for May 2025. The symposium will be devoted to traditional and modern approaches in design and architecture of mosques and other Muslim buildings,” Timirkhan Alishev said.

The Vice-Rector also met with the leadership of the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) to discuss cooperation in oil and gas engineering technologies, artificial intelligence, business education, and the study of the Russian language. A separate meeting was also held with Professor Azmi Omar, President of the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance operating under the Central Bank of Malaysia. Agreements were also reached in education and scientific research. The signing of a memorandum of understanding and an agreement on academic exchange is planned.
