Pakistani chemist Mohsin Ali completes internship at KFU

He was working at the Laboratory of Materials for Hydrogen Energy and Traditional Energy with Low Carbon Footprint (LMHETELCF) of the Institute of Chemistry.
He was employed as a senior research associate for six months. Dr Ali specializes in the study of complex compounds of rare earth element ions – lanthanides(III) – with betadiketone ligands, synthesis of hydrophilic nanoparticles from them, study of their luminescent characteristics and sensory properties in relation to some organic analytes and temperature changes. In addition, the scientists carry out joint work on the development of highly efficient and selective catalysts for the hydrogenation of lignocellulosic biomass components.
“It’s a new example of the growing cooperation between Russia and Pakistan,” said the intern’s curator, Associate Professor Rustem Zairov.
The overseas researcher was congratulated by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev. The Vice-Rector mentioned that the program is implemented by KFU and COMSTECH, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s standing committee for scientific collaboration. Russia is currently an observer member of OIC.
“I would like to thank you for our stay at our university. I am sure that your work has been fruitful,” said the executive.
He added that KFU is going to welcome scientists from other countries of the OIC this year.
Mohsin Ali shared that he saw snow for a first time when he arrived in Kazan. He also noted the warm welcome and the rich culture of the province. He hopes to continue his research in his home country.
In conclusion, Dr Alishev gave the guest a certificate of completion of a doctoral internship.
Kazan University and COMSTECH signed a cooperation agreement in November 2022 during the Kazanian delegation’s visit to the University of Karachi, Pakistan.
