Rector Lenar Safin tours Cairo Branch facilities

The Rector is on a working visit to the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The day before, the university delegation gave a ceremonial and official start to the new academic year at the KFU branch in Cairo. Rector Safin and Cairo Branch Rector Ayman al-Shafii inspected the infrastructure of the educational institution.

The Branch currently focuses on medical training, as Egypt is in need of medical professionals.

The Faculty of Medicine is equipped with more than 20 different laboratories, 2 computer labs, as well as a library and 12 large classrooms with a total capacity of 1,500 seats for lecture classes. Students are engaged in anatomy, medical physics, chemistry and other disciplines included in the curriculum.

In addition to laboratories and lecture halls, Dr Safin visited Cairo Branch’s Medical Simulation Center (the central campus also has one). The Branch has two such centers. They are aimed at developing practical skills of future doctors so that they could work through a variety of clinical situations without risk to patients’ health. Here the trainees are provided with simulators, 3D models of human organs, with the help of which they can learn and consolidate a wide range of medical procedures from basic (injections, probing, gastric lavage, etc.) to surgical techniques of varying degrees of complexity (endoscopic examinations, laparoscopic and endovascular interventions, etc.).

This year the training and laboratory complex was supplemented with a dental room equipped with simulation equipment for practical skills in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.

During his rounds Lenar Safin met with the teachers, many of whom are Russian nationals from KFU. They come to Egypt on business trips and teach classes in English, as the university is responsible for the quality of education in its branches and the establishment of a curriculum based on the Russian education system.

In the end, the Rector of Kazan University honored the four best students based on the results of the last academic year and presented them with memorable gifts.
