Rector meets Russian Ambassador in Cairo

Lenar Safin and Georgy Borisenko talked on 11 October.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and noted the importance of maintaining contacts and ties between Russian and Egyptian professionals in science and education.
Borisenko emphasized that Egypt remains faithful to the traditions of friendship between the two countries and continues active cooperation with Russia in various areas. Additionally, the Ambassador thanked the leadership of Kazan University for the productive work that the university is doing in Egypt.
He reminded that President El-Sisi set a task to reduce the outflow of young people abroad for education in other countries. And the opening of the KFU Cairo Branch, according to Georgy Borisenko, is one of the effective solutions.
Lenar Safin, in his turn, assured that now Egyptian youth have a unique opportunity to receive high-quality Russian education without leaving their country. Moreover, the University solves the most important task of familiarizing the local population with Russian culture, Russian traditions and holidays. Russian language is taught as part of the curriculum at the Branch.
Kazan University also organizes various events aimed to deepen the knowledge of Egyptian students about Russia, Russian culture and language. For example, on June 12, 2024, a team of professors held a series of events dedicated to the celebration of Russia Day, and on April 28 of the same year, under the patronage of the Russian Embassy in Egypt and Rossotrudnichestvo, Victory Dictation was held.
Borisenko said that the Embassy will continue to provide all possible support to KFU in the implementation of its projects. The Ambassador also suggested joining forces with the Russian House in Cairo and developing a joint plan of events aimed at spreading Russian culture among Egyptians.
