University visited by Ambassador of Tajikistan

Kazan Federal University hosted a meeting of the university administration with the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation Davlatshokh Kurbonali Gulmakhmadzoda.

The Consul General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ufa Temur Rakhimov, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation Abdusamad Abdushkurov, and others took part in the meeting.

Kazan University was represented by President Riyaz Minzaripov and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.

“Today Kazan University is actively developing scientific research in almost all fields of knowledge, especially active in biomedicine, modern energy, digital technologies, robotics and artificial intelligence, modern materials science. The university actively develops international relations, has two campuses outside Russia (in Uzbekistan and Egypt),” Dr Minzaripov said during his speech.

He noted that today 164 citizens of Tajikistan are studying at KFU.

“It is noteworthy that 2020-2040 in Tajikistan are declared ‘Twenty years of study and development of natural and mathematical sciences’. Therefore, it is especially significant that today our official partners are the flagship universities of Tajikistan – Tajik National University, Tajik State Pedagogical University, Russian-Tajik Slavic University, Tajik State Medical University, and others. Our scientists hold joint scientific conferences, including in language, law, chemistry, and are working on launching joint educational programs. I think the potential for cooperation is much wider,” continued the President.

The Ambassador focused on training of personnel for the national economy of Tajikistan.

He asked the KFU management to strengthen control over the training of Tajik students, noting that Tajikistan needs qualified personnel.

“Kazan Federal University is famous for its high quality, as the university is one of the leading universities in Russia and the world, and there are few such universities,” Davlatshokh Kurbonali Gulmahmadzoda emphasized.

Timirkhan Alishev assured the representatives of the Embassy that the work on adaptation of foreign students is carried out at Kazan University on a regular basis.

It was noted that from 2020 foreign students in Russia are allowed to work in their free time.

“We do not recommend combining study and work for students of junior years, but if the work is related to the main specialty and in senior courses – it is even good,” said the Vice-Rector.

After that, the Ambassador Tajikistani students and athletes from Tajikistan who came to participate in the BRICS Games.

Welcoming the audience, the Vice-Rector thanked the Ambassador for his attention to Kazan University, noting that it was not the first time he visited the university. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the management of the university for creating very good conditions for education.

Then the meeting was held in Tajik. The Ambassador gave a number of recommendations to the citizens of Tajikistan, which concerned the rules of behavior on the territory of Russia, and also advised the students to put all their efforts into their studies, as the country they came from is in great need of qualified specialists.
