University ranked 3rd in Russia in QS Sustainability

The QS Sustainability Rankings, which assesses the social and environmental sustainability of universities, has been published. Kazan Federal University is 610th in the world and 3rd in Russia.
Universities are assessed based on indicators grouped into 3 categories: Environmental Impact (weight – 45 percent), Social Impact (45 percent), and Effective Governance (10 percent).
The first category is represented by the following indicators: Environmental Sustainability (15 percent), Environmental Education (17 percent), and Environmental Research (13 percent). The Social Impact category is represented by the following indicators: Equality (12 percent), Knowledge Sharing (10 percent), Education Impact (7 percent), Employability (11 percent), and Health and Well-Being (5 percent). The category Effective Management (10 percent) includes one indicator that assesses the openness of decision-making at the university, its ethical culture, student representation in the university’s governing bodies and financial transparency.
The ranking includes 32 Russian universities (27 a year earlier). According to the Center for Prospective Development of KFU, Kazan University has maintained its position in Russia and, as in 2023, ranks third.
In Environmental Impact and Social Impact, KFU took 3rd place in the Russian Federation, and in Effective Management it demonstrated positive dynamics and took 4th place in the national standings (previously – 5th place).
