Russian Student Day

Russian Student Day (Tatiana’s Day) is marked on 25 January. The holiday dates back to the founding date of Moscow State University, the first Russian university, in 1755. Since it’s also the name day of Saint Martyr Tatiana of Rome in the Russian Orthodox Church, the holiday is colloquially known as Tatiana’s Day in Russia.

The tradition, of course, is well kept at KFU, where on this day many festivities, including concerts, cuisine shows, and other entertainment take place. Tatiana is a popular female given name in Russia, so all Tatianas also receive their share of congratulations.
