Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan Rinat Sadykov meets with student activists at Kazan Federal University

The event on 13 April was moderated by President of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov.

Also contributing were Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Arif Mezhvedilov and Director of the Department of Youth Policy of the University Yuliya Vinogradova.

Rinat Sadykov spoke about the Ministry’s current priorities and youth infrastructure in Tatarstan. He noted that the province has been awarded as the best in Russia in youth policy for four years in a row by the Federal Youth Agency of Russia. Speaking about his career path, the Minsiter said that he once was the head of Kazan and Tatarstan centers of student employment squads.

He talked about ongoing projects for university students, grants for youth initiatives, employment, and other questions most pertinent for his audience.

Head of the Section for Counselorship and Cooperation with Social Organizations Gulnaz Mardanova presented a report on counselorship at KFU, “Speaking about student counselors, we see them as an inalienable link in the moral education system. We are very keen on maintaining a streamlined cooperation with student group counselors, of which there are currently over 800 at KFU.”

Several dozen young educators become counselors every year. They are trained at the Young Counselor School.

The Minister replied that a counselor is the first person to meet a freshman at a unviersity. Director Vinogradova opined that young people indeed need mentorship.

Second-year student, student council president of the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance Kseniya Perepelitsa talked about Best Academic Group, a KFU-organized competition for student groups.
