Summer University participants eyeing KFU for future studies

The international project has closed its two-week run.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev comments on the young participants’ opinions of KFU, “The participants of Summer University highly appreciate the level of the implemented programs. Since most of the program participants are students of bachelor’s programs at foreign universities, they are interested in enrolling in master’s programs at Kazan University. Judging by the feedback we receive, more than 70 percent of them want to return for further studies at KFU and partner universities.”

Head of the Division of International Affairs of Samara National Research University, one of the partner institutions of Summer University, Sergey Titz opines, “When you have the opportunity to come and be here for a few weeks, to see that people here eat good food, listen to the same music, that there are common interests in science and culture – this is invaluable. The Russian Federation will only benefit from such positioning abroad.”

Another partner, Head of the Division of International Education and Cooperation of Udmurt State University Maria Beznosova, has this to say, “It was gratifying to receive an invitation to this project. The guys took it with great interest. We can feel the open attitude, interest on the part of students, their level at this stage of professional training. They join the discussions, ask questions. Summer University is the format that allows you to shake up being in a different environment, with representatives of universities of other countries. Students feel responsible for their country and university. I would like to believe that after the Summer University new formats of interaction and new projects will be born.”

One of the participants was Oibek Khushbokov, Senior Lecturer at Termez State Pedagogical Institute (Uzbekistan). He shares, “Summer University was organized at the highest level: educational programs with various innovative technologies, excellent cultural and excursion events in the Republic of Tatarstan – Sviyazhsk, Innopolis, KFU Planetarium. I am convinced that such a format should become a good tradition.”

Carlos Rodriguez, a Cuban national and KFU alumnus, partook to the Digital Economy: Trends and Developments track of Summer University. He says, “The project is an all-inclusive affair, which means educational sessions, wonderful excursions and cultural program in general, other interesting events. The tracks included contemporary issues in different scientific and practical areas. The teachers showed their world level.”

Jose Larrea from Ecuador adds, “I fancied the cultural aspect, especially Tatar folk dance, which I found very beautiful. As for the food, I can point to sweets, such as chak-chak and talkysh kaleve.”

Sheida Razi studied Russian language in Islamic Azad University in her native Tehran. She says this about her first visit to Kazan, “I liked Kazan very much. It’s a beautiful historical city. I also noted the KFU Museum Complex. I would very much like for something like that to be established at our university. I think that studying in Kazan would be a great opportunity to hone Russian speaking skills and live among native speakers. We don’t have much language practice in Iran.” She also noted that Kazanites are very warm and hospitable people.

Her compatriot Nasim Sabunchi adds, “I will recommend Kazan University’s projects to my friends.”
