The last year was packed with new achievements for KFU and its talented team – here are some of the most memorable.
- KFU’s astronomical observatories were included in UNESCO World Heritage Lists in October 2023 at the organization’s World Heritage Committee’s 45th session.
- The University improved its positions in many rankings; among the subject rankings, KFU’s best standing in 40th in QS Petroleum Engineering.
- Nine KFU employees are among the most cited authors in Elsevier rankings for 2022.
- Professor Marat Arslanov was awarded the Medal of the Turkic World Mathematical Society for his contribution to the development of mathematics.
- Among other wins, of note is Irek Mukhamatdinov‘s Presidential Award for Science and Innovation for his research of catalysts of aquathermolysis for enhanced oil recovery.
- Academician Yury Yershov won this year’s Lobachevsky Medal and Prize.
- Many international talents visited the 1st Summer University and the 2nd OIC Youth Scientific Congress.
- Over 7,000 visitors combined showed at KFU’s Pro Science events in March and November.
- The Laboratory of Regenerative Veterinary Science showed artificial sterlet meat.
- KFU was first among Russian universities in 2023 by the number of online applications (106,900) through Russian e-government’s new service for university enrollees.
- 2023 saw the opening of KFU’s second overseas branch – and first outside the former Soviet Union – in Cairo, Egypt.
- Kazan University retained its position among the first group of Priority 2030 project funding for 2024.
