Rector Lenar Safin contributes to Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum

The forum was held on 14 – 17 June 2023.

Rector Safin partook in the Building Technological Sovereignty panel, where higher education reform was discussed among other things. Many proposals were put forth considering best practices from the Soviet period and the later decades. Of special interest is correlation between educational content and current labor market challenges. The contributors also talked about Russia’s integration into global educational space and further growth of international links.

KFU presented its developments in chemical methods of enhanced oil recovery, spearheaded by our Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons. KFU’s and Tatarstan’s initiatives in oilfield chemistry were also discussed, including low-tonnage production of oilfield chemicals by the local industry.

The University signed a number of agreements, including one with Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics. The sides decided to collaborate in education, research, student employment promotion, innovation, and other fields.
